How Black Women Get Flawless Beautiful Looking Skin

How Black Women Get Flawless Beautiful Looking Skin
Black women obtain flawless beautiful looking skin by practicing a daily regimen. Whether it be avoiding the sun or washing and moisturizing every day, their regimen is practiced faithfully. Once they find something that works, they generally stick with it for years to come, often passing their regimen to their daughters.
Step 1
Stay out of the sun to avoid skin damage or disease. Black women possess a dark brown pigment in their skin called melanin, which minimizes the need to sunbathe or use tanning beds. While in the sun, melanin absorbs the energy of UV light and helps prevent the light from damaging skin cells. Although they still remain vulnerable, black women have more melanin protecting against the sun's harmful effects than white women.

Step 2

Apply cocoa butter or cocoa butter products to the skin. Moisturizing the skin is extremely important to black women. Skin can often become dry and itchy or take on a white "ashy" appearance. Keeping moisturized minimizes itching and scratching, which could damage the skin's surface. Cocoa butter is a popular remedy in the African-American community regarding moisturizing, skin care or skin pigmentation issues. It is often applied in its purest form, sold as a cocoa butter stick, or through moisturizers or creams with cocoa butter in the ingredients. While there is no scientific data supporting the effectiveness of cocoa butter in resolving stretch marks or discoloration of the skin, black women stand behind the product anyway and use it quite often, even if only for moisturizing.

Step 3

Have a positive body image. Studies have shown that black women generally have a more positive body image than Caucasians, depending on what they accept in beauty standards. A study conducted with moderately and severely overweight black women showed 40 percent rated their figures to be attractive or very attractive. If you are seriously unhappy with something pertaining to your body such as skin, facial features or weight, you would probably make several attempts to change it. Black women may already believe they have beautiful skin, which results in less tampering or altering of its surface: no tanning, microdermabrasion or use of harsh topical ointments and creams.
How to Get Clear & Spotless Black Skin
According to “Cosmopolitan,” black skin can be more prone to breakouts than other skin tones. Not only can you get pimples, but darker skin can also develop brown spots or areas of hyperpigmentation after your acne has cleared, especially if you pick at or pop your zits. Get rid of blemishes and clogged pores by using products designed to combat oil and acne, and then ward off brown spots and scars with a lightening treatment designed with your skin tone in mind. Daily care and maintenance will help you achieve the clear and spotless black skin you desire.

Step 1

Wash your face in the morning with a cleanser that contains salicylic acid. “Cosmopolitan” states that this acne-fighting ingredient will help clear out your pores, heal pimples and get rid of any dirt and residue that can cause you to break out. Wet your face and hands, apply the cleanser to your face with a circular motion and then rinse it off.

Step 2

Apply a cream that contains salicylic acid over each area of your face where you experience breakouts, and dab a little extra directly on top of pimples. If you have sensitive skin or mild acne, skip this step and go directly to Step 3.

Step 3

Allow the cream to absorb into your skin for a few minutes, and then apply a lightweight moisturizer with SPF onto your face. This will keep flaking and irritation at a minimum, as well as help prevent the ashy appearance that black skin can experience. The SPF will help guard against the sun damage that can make acne and scarring look worse. Choose an oil-free product that promises not to clog pores, and apply it as often as needed throughout the day.

Step 4

Clean your face again at night with the same face wash. Dry it and then smooth on a dark spot correcting serum. Look for a product that is safe for use on black skin and that promises to fade spots and even out your overall complexion. Apply the serum over your entire face and concentrate especially on any spots or scars.

Step 5

Use an exfoliating scrub twice a week after washing your face at night. Essence.com suggests choosing a product designed to target blackheads and rid your pores of impurities. Massage the scrub onto damp skin and rinse thoroughly.
